The succession to the British Throne is (currently) regulated by the Bill of Rights and the Act of Settlement. The second of these extends the succession to Electress Sophia of Hanover and the heirs of Sophia's body. In an effort to understand the geographical and social dispersion of the persons who are eligible to succeed to the Throne under the terms of these Acts, I have prepared lists of the descendants of Sophia, at twenty year intervals, arranged in sequence by their eligibility to become the heir of her body. The 2011 list below was provided by David Lewis This type of list is often referred to as the "Order of Succession" to the British Throne.
