Fun with URLs
Several absurd domain names and host names have been
perpetrated on the Internet. Below are some of them
that I have noticed.
Some Web browsers will choke on this URL:
http://twas.brillig.and.the.slithy.toves.did.gyre.and.gimble.in.the.wabe.all.mimsy.were.the.borogoves.and.the.mome.raths.outgrabe.jabberwocky.com.
www.llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.com
is not the website of the village of
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, in Wales.
Their website is at
www.llanfair.com.
By design, all domain names must be case-insensitive
(actually RFC1035 2.3.3 says that, in domain name resolution,
all comparisons between character strings are done in a
case-insensitive manner).
http://domainrookie.com/hilarious-domain-name-mispronouncings
has some very funny examples of where this case-insensitivity
can lead.
